Massage Therapist
Velma Morales graduated from Upsala College in 1981 with a B.S.W. in Social Work,
majoring in psychology. She became certified in New Jersey as a massage therapist
in 1997 after attending The Academy of Massage Therapy in Englewood, New Jersey.
She is trained in Swedish, deep tissue, medical, sports, and pre-natal massage
as well as Lomi-Lomi Hawaiian massage and lymphatic drainage. Having worked extensively
in this field for over nine years, Velma qualifies as an exceptional professional
in her area of expertise.
Velma is also a certified fitness instructor, which further defines her dedication
in helping clients achieve their individual optimum physical performance. A fitness
and massage regimen are an excellent combination to relieve stress and pain and
to better navigate day-to-day challenges by balancing body, mind, and spirit.
The American Massage Therapy Association has found that the number of adults
receiving massage has more than doubled since 1997. They also state that research
has shown the benefits of massage therapy in reducing lower back pain, depression,
anxiety, and sleep problems. Range of motion improves and the levels of serotonin
and dopamine increase. Massage therapy improves blood circulation, relaxes muscles,
and increases endorphin levels enabling the “feel good response” and
may also be instrumental in helping the recipient to effectively manage chronic
pain.
Velma Morales is also a member of SGI World Peace Organization.
