Massage Therapist
Darren Orr graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Anthropology from
Montclair State University in January 2005. From April to October 2005 he attended,
graduated and received over 600 hours of massage therapy instruction from the
Dahn Healing Institute. At DHI, he was trained in Swedish, sports and hwalgong
massage as well as qigong, meditation, Dahn yoga, and brain respiration. He has
been practicing vibrational and subtle energy medicine for over three years in
the forms of reiki and Korean, Tibetan, and Chinese qigong. Darren has extensive
experience working with chronic pain conditions and volunteers for Care Alternatives,
providing reiki and companionship to terminally ill patients.
Darren’s specialty at the New Jersey Center for Healthy Living will be
hwalgong massage, a unique experience for health and healing. It is a holistic
massage therapy that combines and integrates Western massage techniques, Eastern
massage techniques, acupressure, energy work (hands positioned both on and off
the body), conscious breathing, yoga, sound therapy, visualization, and meditation.
To augment massage therapy sessions, Darren also provides simple and effective
tools to maintain your health and balance of mind-body-spirit between sessions.
Beginning in May 2006, Darren will be a welcome addition to the staff at the
New Jersey Center for Healthy Living.
